crazy

sweet sleepy baby
New 'do, styled just like Uncle Matt

My wonderful, darling, sweet boys did a fantastic job of driving me crazy today. Really, they were just being normal boys, vying for my attention in random, mischievous ways. Sigh. I will openly admit that I am a poor housekeeper. My priority is interacting with my children and letting them know they are loved through time spent playing with them. That being said, to reduce external stress that Dominic feels with his all ready stressful course load, I have been making serious efforts to keep the house fairly tidy (some days are better than others, today was one of the "others"). Sometimes at the end of a long day playing referee the last thing I want to do is scrub toilets. (I don't think I am alone in this feeling...shout out!) So today I tried to keep up on the housework, only to be foiled at every attempt. The day started with a discovery of two exploded beer bottles in the freezer that Dom left there over night. Great, broken glass and beer all over my frozen goods. Then I broke my Italian cookie jar (sniff) while trying to move the fridge to get Liam's magnetix (note...they are magnetic and are stuck to the bottom of the fridge and irremovable...so I broke my cookie jar for nothing!) Then while Finn was napping and I was trying to inhale some lunch Liam decided instead of washing his hands he would throw water all over the bathroom and flood the floor. lovely. (at least the floor is clean). Finn threw all the toys all over the living room, but that is nothing new for him. Then he dumped out a bag of goldfish, crumbs and all and then proceeded to dance on them because it made such a funny noise (the experimentation of toddlers is exhausting at times) We finally hit dinner and the final stretch of our night...I made pancakes for the boys...apparently I didn't spread the syrup out the right way on Liam's pancake, so he threw a fit and threw his plate on the floor...you guessed it, syrup side down. Finn thought it was hysterical, and so threw his plate down too. Liam got a time out, and I proceeded to clean yet again. we finished dinner, I let them make a mess eating Ding Dongs for a snack (a special treat won for good behavior at the commissary earlier today) and then swept that up too. We ended the night watching WIPEOUT in abc.com. and now they are in bed, and I'm pooped. If you missed the sarcastic undertone of this post, please know I am only half whining. Looking for a little mommy sympathy is all, really I wouldn't trade my job with anybody in the world.

And if you haven't seen wipeout yet...its funny. really funny. The boys were busting out laughing so hard, and it really helped me keep a positive spin on a loooooooong day. Its an obstacle course, with lots and lots of falling.

Enjoy the pictures of my sweet angels reading peacefully together on the couch...this was sometime last week, and its a proud mommy moment!

Oh honey--I feel like all of my days are like the one you described. Dillan and Meghan thought it was fun the other day to put 1/2 a bottle of sunscreen in Dillan's hair--not easy to wash out may I tell you:)
I'm finally having an easier time with the older 2 (at least with those things) So remember you are a Great Mom, it will get better, and your boys are going to remember all the fun stuff--not whether or not your floor got mopped.

I feel you on this one.. In all efforts to keep the house, I usually go back to a clean room with everything strewn all over the place again. Oh the joys of being a mom.. Especially now since Olivia is getting into EVERYTHING! I just give up some days too. You are not alone.. :)

I hear ya girl! I just scrubbed down our entire house as we moved out and I said to Craig, "You know, I should probably do this more often....." But with kids, it just isn't possible. As long as things are reasonably sanitary, I think that is about all you can ask for. Good luck!

Hey Liam,

Before I read this, Papa Rick quoted the story using a waffle instead of a pancake. When you get your letter from me, please change the word waffle to pancake.

Love you lots, Papa and Nona

I so understand these feelings. But look, you lived to tell about it lol and I love the pictures of the boys reading. We read a lot in our house. We read and do puzzles a lot. Don't worry, they grow up one day and they can clean up their own messes when they make them.
