Raven Rock State Park
One nice afternoon while everyone was still on Christmas break we took the boys out for a little nature hike to Raven Rock State Park. It was a 30 minute drive or so, and very pretty. We ended up walking about a 2.5 mile loop. I'm gonna guess that the boys walked/ran about 2 miles of it! They both only pleaded to be carried the last little bit. I think it helped that there were lots of people at the park walking their dogs, and lots of neat things to look at. The trail takes you down to the river and under a large rock. I don't know the whole story about the place, I'm sure you can look it up if you are interested. :-) Once we got down to the rocks the boys enjoyed scrambling all over them. Liam even imagined a whole caveman house! "here is the caveman bed, here is the caveman couch, here is the caveman TV..." (all of them were rocks of course, but the kid has quite an imagination!) It was a nice afternoon, and a great chance to get out and get some fresh air! I enjoy the fact that you can still be outside in the winter here, I much prefer North Carolina winters to their summers!
