New Years Eve
Another benefit of having kids....I can stay home on New Years Eve, and its totally cool and normal! I am not a fan of hanging out in crowded bars with a bunch of drunks. So this year we had a feast of appetizers for dinner. I remember my family doing something similar when I was growing up. We used to play board games all night, and I am looking forward to that when the boys get a little older. Our menu consisted of egg rolls, pizza rolls, chips & dip and shrimp for the boys. We also had root beer floats a little later into the evening. Due to the fact that my children are little, we decided to forgo games and instead got out the air mattress, laid together and watched movies. The boys didn't make it till midnight. Finn lasted till 8 and Liam till nine. Finn just kept getting too crazy to sit still so we sent him to bed. A little later Liam was watching movies with us, he lets out a big huge sigh and said "Boy, its been a long day!" We interpreted that as him wanting to go to be, but not wanting to miss any of the fun. We assured him we could finish the movie the next day, and he scampered off to bed shortly there after. Dom and I made it till about 11. Yes we are nerds! Anyway, it was a nice quiet evening at home, and I am looking forward to continuing the same traditions next year. Happy New Year!

sounds like a lovely evening. We all made it to midnight here--except Dillan who crashed at about 9. We were up playing Wii though so everyone was moving around.
We did the appetizer thing for dinner too! We usually do punch but this year Gabe and Cara wanted root beer floats which we drank while watching movies! Funny, huh? We finally watched Nativity Story that night, we all really liked it. I did put the three little ones to bed as normal though, you are much braver than I am there!
Cathy,
What can I say, but "great minds think alike"?!? :-) In actuality, we were all only up an hour past bedtime. I was foolishly hoping the kids would sleep in a little the next day, but of course they never do. You would think I would have figured this out by now. sigh.
Wow! Did you notice the size of Dominic's forearms pouring that root beer?
