Museum of Natural History

The week between Christmas and New Years we took a day to drive all the way up to Raleigh (an hour and a half, not that bad really!) Anyway they have a museum of natural history up there that is free (well suggested donation). We threw the boys in the car and made the drive. The hardest part was finding parking, I guess a lot of other people had the same idea.
The boys had a lot of fun, and were almost in information over load when we first got there. They kept running from display to display to display. Thankfully the museum has three floors, and they had settled a bit by the time we made it to the second floor. By the time we got to the third floor they were pooped and didn't have much energy to spare to look at the displays. We've decided that next time we go, we will start at the top and work our way down to get more out of the experience. Thankfully the big dinosaur (or "dine-roar" as Finn says) is on the second floor, and that is where we spent most of our time. Along with a very cool kid friendly hands on room where they could get close and touch everything in addition to dressing up.
It was a great activity to do together. Sure we didn't "learn" much because we were too busy looking at everything to read what it was all about. But the point was to do something fun together as a family, and this fit the bill (and budget) perfectly. We ended the trip with a trip to Noodles and Company, a great restaurant where they serve noodle dishes, thankfully they even have "noodles with butter and cheese" on the menu, Liam polished off his bowl quickly. Fayetteville may not be the best city, but at least Raleigh isn't too far away, and it has a bit more to offer.
