Last weekend (October 18) post had their first ever 10K (6.2 miles) Volksmarch...which is just a fancy way of saying long walk. Volksmarches are very popular in Germany and N Italy, so we have had experience with them before. Some people take them very seriously and race, and some people just use it as a chance to get out and walk. We took the opportunity to get out and walk as a family. It was "chilly" (in the 50's) so we bundled up in cozy pants and warm sweatshirts and enjoyed walking in the crisp fall air. Liam loved to be up in the backpack carrier so much so that he didn't want to get out and walk, and Finnigan loves the jogging stroller that was passed on to us from a friend. We took our time and stopped to enjoy the woods around us, and so it took us about 2 hours, but the point for us was to be together. Afterwards Dom and I each got a very nice glass stein and enjoyed some brats and kraut and let the boys bounce in the bouncer they had there. It was a fun organized event and we hope they do it again next year.

We love doing volksmarches as a family. They are a great way to enjoy each other and get out into nature. I'm glad you had a good time.
