I can imagine that it is very hard to be away from your grandchildren. Kids grow so fast, and do marvels at boosting an otherwise yucky mood. Something about kids just makes you smile and laugh. With that in mind, my parents decided they had been away from their grandchildren for far too long. They hadn't seen any of them since August when we were all up there for the wedding. Taking advantage of lower gas prices, and the fact that as long as she has a computer and Internet connection, my mom can work anywhere, they hit the road. They drove from MN to Texas to visit with Megan and her two girls for about a week, and then they drove from TX to here to visit with me and the boys for about a week. Then they made the long drive back to Minnesota. it was a much needed mental break for them. We sure had fun with their visit too. I kept Liam out of (pre)school the week, since my mom starts work in the afternoon. I wanted to give them a chance to play together. My parents had kicked around the idea of getting an RV and just traveling from child to child, and Liam think this is a great idea, he was a little disappointed that they arrived in their regular old van instead.
Anyway, we didn't "do" much the week they were here. We played together a whole lot. We played outside, and built with Lego's and tickled and laughed and just hung around the house most days, and honestly I think it was the most fun we could have had. We did make it to the beach on Saturday and enjoyed watching the waves and playing in the sand. It was a long day, but lots of fun. The boys enjoyed having my parents here. Finn still asks almost every morning where "buddy" is... I enjoyed having my parents here, and having someone else to play with the boys a little bit. They are quite energetic so it was nice to share the "burden" (so to speak) of keeping up with them.
I hope you enjoy the happy pictures. We look forward to their visit again sometime after Seamus decides to make his entrance into the world. :-)
