Today, Holy Saturday, we got out the eggs and started dying. This is one of the messiest traditions I know of. I decided to let the boys go topless this year to prevent staining a shirt. Liam did okay, but Finn used his cute little toddler belly to help hold the slippery eggs as he kept taking them in and out of the dye. At first he was happy to just drop them in, but there isn't much fun in that. After a short while we let him have three colors to himself so he could keep switching his eggs around and around without ruining all the other colors. With the repeated dropping they all cracked so they ended up looking pretty funky in the end, but not worth eating. His hands and belly got a little blue too by the end, but nothing that a few hand washings and a bath couldn't cure!
Liam did well this year, he was finally able to use the little tool with success, and so his hands didn't get too blue this year. He was also a huge fan of wiping the eggs dry when we were done dying them, before putting them back in the carton. What a great helper!!!!
It was a fun event this morning, but I am glad it happens only once a year! :-)

What FUN! Thank you for sharing the day with us!
this looks like fun. we skipped dying eggs this year, but not by choice. i bought the stuff, boiled the eggs, and remembered i didn't have vinegar lol. Oh well, they can wait until next year now.
