who knew???

I think its pretty funny/ironic that I've been moaning all week about how my kids don't play with their toys, and instead use their imaginations and play with other things. Lo and behold, I had this story sitting in my inbox from a friend. huh! amazing. I guess my idea of throwing all their toys away doesn't seem so far fetched now, and may in fact be good for them, despite what all the advertisers might say about toys and cognative development. If only I were brave enough to really do so. I think I may need to enlist the help of my better half here, he is great about throwing things away, and has been talking about it for months now. I will keep you all updated if that really does happen.

On an aside, I really think Liam is over his paci. He hasn't said a word about it since it disappeared the first night, and has been loving his new Lego STAR WARS game. Can I claim that this game helps his cognative development? He is for sure working on fine motor skills, (which he always lags on a teeny bit) and hand eye coordination...

Great article, Ang! Thanks for sharing!! I remember playing make believe ALL THE TIME as a kid - climbing trees that were ships, playing dress up in my basement with a few neighbor kids....it does make me wonder how my kids (if I have any) will play - there does seem to be so much structure around play & play groups in today's society. Heck! I don't know my neighbors now...who's to say I will when/if I have kids?!?!?

Very thought provoking - thanks!
