It was all yellow...

I don't know where it exactly comes from, but for the past few weeks everything outside has been covered with yellow pollen. I don't know how much longer it will last either. In all the places I have ever lived (which has been a few in the past few years) I've never seen anything like it. I think all the pollen is taking its toll on us, both the boys and I are pretty congested right now. Hopefully all the rain from the past few days will wash the rest of the pollen away. Its really annoying to be covered in pollen while playing outside.

We took Keely into the groomers this past week, he was in desperate need of a hair cut. His favorite place to hang out is right next to the high chair, so his fur gets covered in whatever Finn has been eating. Due to the abundance of food stuck in his fur, he had to be shaved, which I don't mind too much, he just looks really skinny. The problem is, the groomer left his head all fuzzy, so he looks strange with this big puffy head and this skinny little body. If our camera wasn't MIA I would post a photo for you all to laugh at, it will have to wait for a different time i guess.

Instead enjoy this video of Finnigan's new skill. He loves to feed himself, and he does okay. I would like to feed him more to make sure he is packed full of calories, but he is an independent spirit, so once again I leave his weight gain in the hands of God. Finn is also so over the sippy cup, he wants to drink out of a big boy cup with out a lid, and I also better put more than a drop in there. he throws a huge fit if he doesn't have as much as his brother (even if 95% of it spills on the floor.) Sigh. Thank goodness we are on WIC and I don't really pay for all the milk that spills on the floor. I just can't sneak as much heavy cream into the cover less cup, because WIC doesn't cover that, and it is expensive! I just keep reminding myself that Independence is a good thing. Kids.

Hello Yellow-Covered-Folk!

Yes, I have experienced this in Atlanta, GA. EVERYTHING is covered in the springtime - we couldn't even sit outside or bump up against cars - a very strange experience if you ask me. It must be terrible for allergy sufferers. We here in MN are just dealing with 5 inches of snow that fell yesterday - can you believe I had to SCRAPE my car windows this a.m.? A nice little April Fools joke from Mother Nature, I think :) Good luck dealing with the pollen - I checked in with two friends who live in the "south" to see if they have a typical timeline for how long you'll have to put up with it. I'll let you know what I find out!

Love ya,
heidi anne ;)

Here's what I found out from one of my girlfriends who used to live in Atlanta: "I remember the pollen and it usually lasts no longer than a couple of weeks. I remember walking out to my car in the morning and having it look completely yellow."

Good luck!!!

And one final comment from a girlfriend in Nashville, TN:
"So funny. I have totally had the yellow car problem, too. Tell her not to bother getting her car washed - it will happen again tomorrow. Keri is right - about 2 weeks. It may be a little shorter if there are a few good storms. Those storms seem to help the problem."
