For those who don't believe in miracles

If you've followed my previous posts at all, than you know that Keely bit my mom, and as a result we had to get rid of the dog. When I signed him over to animal control a week ago, they said they would wait ten days and then put him down because he bit someone. That dogs that are in there because of a bite are not adoptable. They have to wait ten days to be sure he doesn't have rabies. Well. after much thought and prayer we decided that we could not have the dog, even if it meant that he would be put down. And I cannot tell you how much the decision has pained me since. I know its irrational, but I felt a huge burden signing the papers that okay-ed his death. I was even thinking about going to Fr Tony for confession this week just to unburden my heart and hear the words that I am forgiven (a foreign concept to all you non Catholics out there, but believe me, it is very healing to hear the words out loud, and I would be happy to elaborate more if you wanted to know). The thing that had been giving me comfort this past week is the hope that all dogs go to heaven, and I have been trusting the care of Keely to St Frances of Assisi (again, another foreign concept for non Catholics) Whenever I though of Keely in that pen all alone. I asked St. Frances to please be with him and me (He is the patron saint of animals among other things) *****The Catholic church teaches that we know for sure that Saints are in heaven at the throne of God (I'm sure many other are there as well, but through various events it has been determined beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are in heaven). And that because we know that they are all ready there by Gods side, that as part of the family of God, not only can we ask God directly for things, but we can also ask our friends the saints to ask God for things for us as well, and some saints are better know for asking about somethings than others. Similar to asking friends on earth to pray for and with us for things (which we all do) we can ask our friends in heaven the saints to pray for us too. ******** okay done with mini Catholic lesson. I can elaborate privately if someone is interested, I just know I have some non Catholic readers out there.
So anyway, this week I have been constantly pleading with God and Saint Frances to be with my dog in his final days here on earth, and to let him know how much he is loved..etc...maybe silly to some, but is has provided me with comfort.
Anyway, today was D-day for Keely...at 9 am this morning I get a call from the animal control shelter here on post saying that they found someone who wanted to adopt Keely!!!!!!!!! And could I please come in and sign papers saying that I was okay with him being adopted!!!!!!! I cannot tell you how elated I am! The person apparently saw him when he came to the shelter looking for a dog, and asked about him. This person is aware of the bite issue, and has worked with aggressive dogs before, and so this is not an issue for them, they are willing to work with Keely and his problems!!!! I know for a fact that this is an answer to my unspoken prayers, that God, and through me and St Frances bugging him, has placed this person in the right place at the right time to take Keely and let him live a longer life. Thanks be to God!!!!!!! You know it just lights me on fire when mini miracles happen in my life. How can I not know that God loves me and cares for me, when He made sure I knew my dog would continue to live!!!!!! I am sad that it is not with my family, but I am glad that there is someone else out there for him. Wow!!! what a blessed day. Thank you Lord. and thank you St Frances for listening to me too! If I am blessed with two more boys, you will have a namesake. (My next boy *God willing* is promised to be named after St. Anthony.)

http://saints.sqpn.com/patron00.htm a very extensive list of Saints and their patronages, I find it fascinating, and helpful to find a friend to call on in time of need.
