Yesterday we had team wives gathering in the afternoon. All the menfolk are away for training. I arrived at our friends house boys in tow. The door was opened to a sea of pink!!! "Surprise!" One of the other team wives and I share a due date and we are both having girls, so we had a joint baby shower. It was such a surprise and so nice. After everyone ate and the kids played we opened gifts. Everything was pink. I opened the first gift which was an adorable pink and brown dress. It took me completely by surprise and i just teared up right away. I'm having a girl!!!!! I managed to keep my emotions in check for most of the other gifts. But I admit the little ruffle-bottom pants and tiny hair bows also got me. I am so used to opening boy clothes at this point, seeing all the pink was just so fun.
I haven't really thought a lot about what life will be like when little sweet Brenna comes into the world. Part of it is I know I still have the long part of pregnancy left. The other part is Dom is due to leave for a year right around the due date, and I just don't want to think about that. They are trying really hard to keep him back for the birth, and that would be awesome, but I have to start preparing myself "just in case". Anyway, so the reality of having a girl of my own hasn't sunk in yet, but its starting too!
What a great afternoon. What a great group of women. All our guys are leaving at the same time, so its nice to know all us wives get along, at least we will all be supported here on the home front.
