Must be doing something right...

Liam is quite the little evangelist. Thus far he doesn't seem hesitant to talk about God and how much He loves all of us. I pray that he continues to be this way throughout his whole life. For "show and share" in preschool he had to bring in something that started with the letter "c" He brought in his crucifix, because "Jesus scares that bad guys away" Thankfully his teacher was also a Christian, and was so pleased that he brought it in. You just never know these days...I was ready to go to battle for him though. :-)

Most recently I got back from Liam’s conferences at school (for Kindergarten) His teacher had nothing but good things to say (which was nice considering all the grief he had been giving me in the previous weeks) She couldn't help but share some of his precious Liam gems that he tells her. First off, when Liam grows up he wants to be a Priest or a Jedi. Thankfully we are friends with a very young priest here, and he has been "selling" the priesthood to Liam every chance he gets. Fr Michael says, "Hey Liam, do you know that priests have their own secret language? And priests have their very own country? And we get to help people all day long by bringing them Jesus? Some priests even wear capes sometimes! They are superheroes!!" Liam grinned broadly and gave him a high five!

Another Liam-ism..."Jesus is the smartest person in the whole-wide world, because He knows everyone's name!!!" :-) The kid is great! We've been doing our religious formation lessons at home as a family (through a great program called "Family Formation" www.familyformation.net) And our first month of lessons focused on the Bible as a whole and the different parts of it. Liam's favorite lesson was when we had a trivia game about the 4 Gospel writers, he will spout off random trivia when I am least expecting it (and I though he wasn't listening!!!)

Finally, in school he is learning about what nouns are, and had to draw an example of each type of noun (person, animal, place or thing) For his place noun, he drew church. Lord may I continue to foster and inspire this little evangelist that you've given to me!

Finn is also getting into our religious education lessons, but is much younger, and so isn't as articulate as Liam can be. He LOVES to sit by our family prayer space and look at everything we have there. He calls the box where we keep the rosaries his "treasure box." He loves to carry around a little cross or saint medal. And Finn has recently started requesting to stay in mass with us instead of playing in the nursery. He also remembers to thank Jesus for all of you every day, and also is sweet enough to be thankful for "chips" most nights of the week as well :-p

Seamus, well, he can't talk yet, but Fr Michael (who holds him every chance he can get!) swears that he will be a priest when he grows up. Seamus smiles really big when I start his night prayers every night. it could be because he knows sleeping is not far off, but I prefer to think that it has to do with talking to God instead. Honestly, this last Sunday at mass, I believe that he was trying to sing "Alleluia" with the rest of us. I was looking at him while singing and he opened his mouth right on cue and sang "ahhhhhhh" with the rest of us and then smiled hugely! (Even if it was coincidence, I know God looked down and smiled)
