For Consideration

In the past few days I have come across a few opportunities to express my ideas in a more public way.  These opportunities would involve writing book reviews for some Catholic blogs.  At first glance this seems like a wonderful fit for me and my interests   I love to read books and recommend the good ones.  I like to read critically and think about things from a Catholic worldview. But then I think about the other side of the issues.  I have some concerns about adding my voice more publicly.
At first I wonder what I can honestly contribute to the conversation that is not all ready out there.  There are many intelligent, talented catholic writers out there reviewing books.  What makes me think that I have anything so profound to say that someone really would care?  Sometimes the whole social media phenomena tends to give people an over inflated sense of importance.  (I mean in general, not anyone specifically)  Would it encourage my vanity and pride to be more widely read? Or the reverse, am I blanketing my concerns under false humility?
The other concern I have is in trying to keep my private life private.  In the growing digital age, information that was once public used to be hidden in obscurity.  Sure you could find out all sorts of things about me available through public record, but generally you would have to know just where to look.  Now all you need is internet connection and some technical know how to correlate all kinds of personal yet public information. Some of those concerns can be alleviated if I keep myself to reviewing books, and by using a nom du plume. But there is still that concern.
I don't have an answer yet.  I am still thinking and praying things over.  I am hoping God will reveal His will to me.  In the mean time, maybe, just maybe, I will try my hand at writing a more involved review or two here in this small personal blog with only 10 readers.
(for Grandma, since its been so long since I sent her a picture)
